Welcome to Vermont!

On Saturday, I had the entire day to myself. I told a friend of mine, Frank, that I was just going to get into my car and drive west from Bar Harbor and stop when I got tired, turn around, and come back (good thing I chose West, not much East of Bar Harbor that you can drive on...).
Frank replied, "That sounds great! When do we leave?" Luckily, I think he figured out that I hadn't really been issuing an invitation and bowed out the night before.
I drove for about 5 hours or so through Western Maine, the White Mountain range in New Hampshire, and, at long last, into fabled Vermont.
I had my camera ready to snap any scenic shots I came across--I wondered what I would tell a state trooper if I got pulled over and asked about it (as it turned out, she didn't notice the camera...)
It was quaint. Very green and mountainous...
I stopped at a store called the Farmer's Daughter (for some reason, such jokes always had a tragic, exploitative feel to me).
A sign on the store door said "If you're in a hurry, you've come to the wrong store. Come to think of it, you've come to the wrong state."
I was proud that I managed to find and buy a really cool bottle of Grade A Amber Vermont Maple Syrup. I had it wrapped carefully and I treated it like gold for the remainder of the trip. I was determined that it wouldn't break or be exposed to rough handling where it could be damaged; it was my prized posession--I had ventured into Vermont.
When I got home and gave it to Fran, she was very thankful and excited. She went to put it in the pantry...right next to another bottle of Grade A Amber Vermont Maple Syrup that she had bought at Albertson's a month or so ago...
