To add confusion to the mix...

Fran's mother bought Kaitlyn this beautiful silk outfit at the State Fair this year. Okay, I'm not exactly sure why she bought it in the first place, but Fran has announced to me her devious intentions of completely confusing one our our acquaintences with it. This poor woman, a notorious busybody and snoop, is unfortunately a little slow on the uptake. In short, it would be inconceivable to this woman that Kaitlyn is dressed this way because she's one year old and it's kind of cute and seems to be comfortable---no, no, it has to be some political statement of unity with the plight of Chinese rebellion, a sympathy to a famous visiting Chinese dignitary, or attesting to some remote, previously unspoken of Chinese descension...There can't be no reason for wearing these clothes, can there be?

Fran says she's going to dress Kaitlyn in this outfit the next time we are bound to encounter her and act very nonchalant about it--as Fran puts it, "It's going to make her head explode by generating so many questions and not being able to ask them fast enough..."
